CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) refers to chest compressions and lungs ventilation which consist of artificial blood circulation and artificial respiration. This emergency medical procedure is performed on victims of cardiac arrest and/or in same cases of respiratory arrest. Although it is unlikely to restart the heart, it maintains a flow of oxygenated blood to the brain and the heart, thereby delaying tissue death. Permanent brain cell damage occurs within 4-6 minutes if CPR is not started effectively.    Studies
have shown that immediate CPR and defibrillator within 3-5 minutes of cardiac arrest improve survival chance. CPR should be performed without any delay and until definitive medical treatment can be accessed.
